Another very successful year, below are some of the main points:

Care and Repair – did 348 jobs in 2017 an increase of 33% compared to the previous year; again the biggest areas were gardening at 117 jobs and fitting rails at 56 jobs. We have a very motivated, keen and reliable group of volunteers; we also made a profit of just over € 1,000.

Failte Isteach – Our most successful year yet, with students regularly attending classes and a very stable group of teachers. Having switched to just Tuesday evenings has improved the attendance as has Helen’s leadership. We also had the “attendance certificate” awards at the Highlanes Gallery with the Mayor Pio Smith presenting the certificates.

Computer Classes – Requirements have fallen this year probably due to the increase use of smart phones and over the past 4 years we may have exhausted the people who need these classes.

The office – continues to be very busy as well as helping people with utility bills, application forms, pensions, entitlements etc. we are now helping people to book flights, print boarding cards as well as looking for car and house insurance.

40 older people went to Mayo for a three days holiday in May. They had a great time that included various outings and entertainment.

We arranged for Flexibus to pick up a group of ladies and bring them to the Monday morning club. This is the first time we have used the Flexibus service.

We had several meeting with ALONE who is a national charity based in Dublin. They are interested in working with us for our mutual benefits.

We introduce the Salesforce computer system which is being used by all admin staff in the office.

LMFM did an outside broadcast from our Easter Raffle here in the office

We made a donation of garden tools to the Allotments as all their equipment had been stolen.

We continue to make new contacts with social workers, public health nurses, and the Mental Health Dept. for Older People. More contacts with people who live in East Meath.

We visited the Memory Technology library in Dublin.

The requirements for the Panic Buttons have increased significantly.  We arranged for 56 to be installed in 2017
